So I ask you, “Can you eat the rainbow?”

Phoebe and I (a registered Music therapist and musician) have created Musical Kitchen: Foodie music for kids, to ask questions such as this. To start a musical conversation around food.

We have had so much fun over the last year performing around NSW in childcares, preschools and at community events.

Musical Kitchen uses music to foster a positive relationship between children and food. To cultivate a connection with food: how it is grown; how it is prepared and how the sharing of mealtimes strengthens our relationships with family and friends

The relationship of food is personal to each child and young children can often feel stressed or uncomfortable in certain mealtime settings. These feelings must be respected to be understood.

Using music, we are able to empower the child’s ability to understand what types of foods are everyday foods and how they themselves are able to communicate and inspire their feelings towards food, when they eat and engage with it.

We have 6 of our own written and produced songs which you can find on Spotify  or iTunes. Check it out below, and let me know what you think.

And if you would like an incursion at your preschool, childcare or school, get in touch and we can discuss how we can worth with the children in your care, from a Foodie Music perspective.
