Just this week a child tried hommus for the first time. Then ate 1/2 a cup’s worth with cucumber.
Just today a child squished fetta in their hands, licked it for the first time and adored it.
Just today a little boy ate tomatoes from the bush, for the first time.
It is magical to observe children explore food and nature. To develop a positive relationship with it.
The one thing I can hold my hand on my heart and say, is that, if a child has an opportunity to develop and relationship with food, over time, they will explore it. It might be slow. It might be with a food you were not expecting. But gentle, repetitive exposure, with connection and trust, a relationship will blossom. And it is pretty cool.
Growing, caring, picking, preparing, sharing, cooking and eating.
We’d love to see you at The Golden Grove garden this year. And if you are not close by, we look forward to supporting you from a far, here online, at Little People Nutrition.
Our programs, in particular our playgroups, are going to have a bit of a zhoosh on the ‘ol food front. We will be having three weekly blocks around hero ingredients, to delve a little deeper, support the exploration of said food through story, music, gardening and cooking. I am excited to see how it flows and empowers our foodie explorers a little further.
